What Are the Characteristics of Corrugated Boxes?

2024-09-21

Corrugated boxes are widely used paper container packaging, commonly used for transport packaging. The reason why corrugated boxes are widely used is that they have many common characteristics.

Buffer protection: The unique structural design of corrugated boxes, in which about 60-70% of the space is filled with air, gives it excellent shock absorption ability, effectively preventing items from being hit and impacted during transportation, ensuring the safety of goods.

High stability and light weight: The hollow structure of corrugated cardboard is used to build a sturdy box with less material. Compared with wooden boxes of the same volume, it is not only more stable, but also greatly reduced in weight, about half of that of wooden boxes, which is easy to handle and transport.

Space optimization: During the storage and transportation stage, corrugated boxes can be easily folded into a flat shape to save space; when used, they can be quickly unfolded into boxes, and compared with wooden boxes or plywood boxes of the same capacity, their volume is more compact, which improves transportation efficiency.

Low cost and abundant raw materials: The raw materials for corrugated boxes come from a wide range of sources, including corner wood, bamboo, wheat straw, reeds, etc. The cost is relatively low, only about half the cost of wooden boxes of the same volume, reflecting good economic benefits.

Automated production and high efficiency: With the development of technology, corrugated boxes have been produced on an automated production line, which can be manufactured in large quantities and efficiently to meet market demand.

Wide applicability: Corrugated boxes themselves have a wide range of applications, and their application areas can be further expanded by combining different coverings and moisture-proof materials. For example, moisture-proof cartons are suitable for the packaging of fruits and vegetables; plastic film coatings are suitable for the storage of items that are easy to absorb moisture; and built-in plastic film sleeves can form sealed packaging, which is suitable for the transportation of liquid or semi-fluid items.

Environmental protection and energy saving: The amount of metal used in the manufacturing process of corrugated boxes is very small. Compared with wooden box manufacturing, metal consumption is halved, which is conducive to resource conservation and environmental protection.

Recycling and cost reduction: The reusability of corrugated boxes not only reduces the generation of packaging waste, but also further reduces packaging costs through multiple uses, reflecting the concept of sustainable development.
